Where do you want to go with your blog?

I was talking about success yesterday with a friend over coffee; everyone measures it differently. There are constantly articles about how women-owned businesses don’t make a lot of money, or aren’t as big as businesses owned by men, but they never analyze whether the women WANT to have larger businesses with more employees. That’s a big assumption to overlook…and the idea that a female entrepreneur can’t be successful and run a 1 or 2-person business or make enough money to just be comfortable is absurd.

I personally am happy with the amount of time I work and the amount of money I make. Sure, I could make much more, but I’d have to seek out investment, and then, the company wouldn’t be mine anymore. And I don’t want to owe anyone money for the rest of my life. So, my business may be small, but that’s where I want it. I am still successful.

And I’ve chosen to build my career around my blogs, but it may not be for everyone. Reading this article yesterday at Style Eyes made me think that maybe every blogger doesn’t want to be a professional blogger. Maybe a blog can just be a blog…not a business.

So, I’m curious, how do you measure your success? Where does your blog fit into that? Do you think you’ll want to blog as your career?
