Cathy of Austin Slave to Fashion
I started my blog last year because I had a lot to say about style and fashion. I like to talk about things that are near and dear to me (plus-size fashion, body acceptance) and some things that I’m just learning about (skinny jeans). I wanted to give my women friends (new and old) a place to talk about their style loves, questions, worries and everything in between without feeling judged and where they could be totally honest.

5 things I’ve learned about blogging:
- Write the way you talk. I am a a little all over the place when I talk, and I want to make sure that translates into my writing. Above all else, it should sound like me.
- Don’t be afraid to be insecure. If I want people to be honest with me, I have to be honest with them. I have to be open to discussing things that make me nervous and even a little insecure.
- Don’t take yourself too seriously. Writing (especially about style!) is fun. Make it fun and don’t take it seriously. You know why Anna Wintour never smiles? Because she takes it way too seriously. Lighten up!
- Mix it up. My blog is primarily about style, but that doesn’t mean I’m totally limited to that one topic. If something else comes up that might really interest your readers (or even if you think it’s just cool) write about it!
- Never stop interacting. My best inspiration comes from other amazing bloggers and my readers’ comments. That interaction is what keeps me going and makes me do what I love.
