Mallory of Miss Malaprop
I started my blog in August 2006 as a place for me to showcase unique, hand crafted and independently made products and small businesses; document my personal mission to live a more environmentally sustainable and socially responsible lifestyle; and talk about what’s going on in New Orleans and the Mississippi Gulf Coast and showcase NOLA and Gulf South based artists and businesses. I always intended to use it as a place to help me build my business, and four years later, I finally have an online shop to accompany it!

5 things I’ve learned about blogging:
- No blog is an island. Blogging is about community, and interacting with readers and other bloggers is crucial.
- Lots of people claim to be experts on blogging (and lots of other things). That doesn’t necessarily mean they know more than you.
- You can make yourself sick trying to learn and perfect every thing about your blog. In the end, the main thing that matters is your own voice, and your unique vision.
- You’re probably not going to get rich blogging. But it can help open doors to a lot of other opportunities.
- Blogging can lead to some amazing friendships. (Hey, technically I even met my boyfriend blogging… that was on Livejournal back in 2003 or so, but still…)
