5 things I’ve learned about blogging: Stylish Thought

Fajr of Stylish Thought
I started my blog way back in 2006 as a means to get writing experience and tie my love of writing with fashion. 4 years later Stylish Thought has gone through several redesigns, editorial revamps and is now currently a better reflection of who I am as a writer and lover of style and life.

5 things I’ve learned about blogging:

  1. Be yourself: Having your own unique voice is integral to success as a blogger. Authenticity shows through your writing and if you’re putting on a facade your readers will see right through it. Plus it’s easier to sustain a blog if you write about what you enjoy.
  2. Be committed: Having a blog takes commitment and dedication. It teaches you how to craft something and nurture and grow it over time.
  3. Be Patient: A blog doesn’t grow overnight, no matter what the online salesmen tell you. You have to be patient and diligent to grow a readership.
  4. Be kind: The internet is filled with toxicity, being friendly and kind to fellow bloggers (and people in general) goes a long way.
  5. Be Helpful: A blog that doesn’t offer a solution, an escape or advice is just aimless ramblings to me. Take an issue that your readers are having (or that you’re having) and find away to offer a solution.
